Lightbot - My Spark

In the darkened computer lab of my elementary school, my tech ed teacher introduced me to the smallest, cutest robot I had ever seen in a video game. The tiny purple (or blue!) robot ran around completing challenges based on my instructions made me feel powerful. As the challenges got more complex, I was learning basic programming concepts without even realizing it. From if-loops to arrays, this app is what inspired me to pursue coding as a passion.

What is Lightbot?

Lightbot is this game that's like a secret portal into the coding universe. Seriously, it's not just a game – it's like a genius way to learn how to code without feeling like you're stuck in a boring class. The whole point of Lightbot is to introduce newbies to coding in a way that's really fun.

Goal Of The Game

The goal of the game is to light up all of the blue tiles with the robot. However, the catch is that there is limited space to make your robot go around to all of the tiles.

The Levels

It starts off easy, just going straight and lighting one tile, but it gets complicated fairly quickly. The game starts throwing challenges at you that make you scratch your head and think, "Wait, how do I make this little robot light up the dance floor?" That's when you start dealing with concepts like loops and conditions.

Each level is like a new puzzle that tests your brainpower. You're not just playing a game; you're actually solving problems, building code, and exercising your critical thinking skills. The best thing is that you learn some real-life coding skills while you're at it.

You can find this game on the App Store and the Google Play Store! I still find myself re-downloading the app and keeping my problem-solving skills sharp from time to time (and I still struggle with the last few levels!). Lightbot is a perfect game to brush up on your skills and a reality check, at least for me.

I would highly recommend this to every kid- even if they aren't interested in technology, it teaches so much logical reasoning and critical thinking!
